Living Out the Great Commission

Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Devotional:

Jesus’ last command to His disciples was to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey His commands. This Great Commission is not just for the original disciples but for all believers. It’s a call to live out our faith actively and to share the love and truth of Christ with others. Embracing this mission requires intentionality, courage, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.

Today, let us embark on a journey of living out the Great Commission through intentional actions:

  1. Cultivate a Heart for the Lost: Pray for a heart that breaks for those who do not know Christ. Ask God to give you compassion and urgency to reach out to those around you with the gospel.
  2. Share Your Testimony: Your personal story of God’s work in your life is a powerful tool for evangelism. Be prepared to share how Jesus has transformed you and the hope you have in Him.
  3. Build Relationships: Invest in genuine relationships with people in your community, workplace, and social circles. Show Christ’s love through your actions and words, creating opportunities to share the gospel.
  4. Equip Yourself: Study God’s Word and learn how to effectively communicate the gospel message. Be prepared to answer questions and guide others in their faith journey.
  5. Pray for Opportunities: Ask God to open doors for you to share the gospel. Pray for boldness, wisdom, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading as you engage with others.

Action Plan:

  1. Identify three people in your life who do not know Christ and commit to praying for them daily. Ask God for opportunities to share your faith with them.
  2. Write down your testimony, focusing on how Jesus has changed your life. Practice sharing it in a concise and compelling way.
  3. Find a way to serve in your local community as a way to build relationships and demonstrate Christ’s love.
  4. Participate in a Bible study or evangelism training course to deepen your understanding and skills in sharing the gospel.
  5. Set aside time each week to intentionally connect with non-believers, whether through coffee dates, community events, or other activities.

As you intentionally live out the Great Commission, may you experience the joy and fulfillment of sharing Christ’s love with others. Trust in Jesus’ promise that He is with you always, guiding and empowering you in this mission. Let His presence and the power of the Holy Spirit give you courage and wisdom as you go forth to make disciples.
